Nuclear Reactor Lab Virtual Tour

This page and all related tour pages are under construction.

The University of Wisconsin Nuclear Reactor (UWNR) is a research reactor primarily used for educational purposes (instruct students, train operators and perform scientific studies using the radiation present in the core). It is also used to educate the general public about the operations, equipment, and science of a nuclear reactor. As part of its educational mission, the following virtual tours have been created to teach people about the UWNR. There is a Quick Tour, which gives an overall text-only description of the reactor and how it works, and there is a Technical Tour which provides pictures and diagrams of the reactor and what we do here. It is recommended that you take the Technical Tour but if you have either a slow connection or an older computer, then it would probably be in your best interest to take the Quick Tour.

While you are taking the tour, you will notice that some words and phrases are highlighted. These words are contained in the glossary and definitions of these words are given in that glossary. In order to return from the glossary to the page that you came from, click "Back" on your web browser.
