Reactor Materials Research Center

Updated Fume Hood in the Reactor Materials Research Center at UW

The Reactor Materials Research Center was established in 2013. The Center combined existing UW equipment with new equipment in a re-modeled and upgraded Laboratory space adjacent to the UW Nuclear Reactor Lab. The establishment of the Center was made possible by a Department of Energy (DOE) Nuclear Energy University Program (NEUP) grant. The NEUP grant funded the remodeling of existing space adjacent to the Reactor Lab. The project included adding doors and walls, an access control system, surveillance cameras, and electrical and ventilation system work to support the new equipment. The Center is located in space that is adjacent to the Reactor Lab. The Reactor Lab supports the Center with services such as radiation surveys, contamination surveys, liquid radioactive waste disposal and shipment of radioactive materials.
